Hillsboro Special Council Meeting
Pilot feed system for water plant
November 28, 2005
Mayor Baran called the meeting to order at 12:10 pm.
Roll call was taken and those present were Mayor Baran and Commissioners Trost, Richmond, McCammack and Hill.
Water Superintendent Fath explained to the Council that he along with Scott Hunt would like to enter into a pilot study to determine the cost effectiveness of feeding liquid lime at the water plant.
The City would buy the product and lease the equipment for a 14-day trial.
Commissioner McCammack stated he felt we should not have to pay any lease fee on the equipment. McCammack also informed the Council he did not want to feed dry lime, because of mess it makes of the building. Initial talks show feeding liquid lime could be considerable more expensive than dry lime and Commissioner McCammack would like to look into this before a decision is made.
Motion was made by Commissioner Hill and seconded by Commissioner Trost to approve a liquid lime pilot study at the water treatment plant if Commissioner McCammack’s research proves it feasible. The cost of the study for 14 days is estimated to be $2000.00. Motion carried 5-0.
Motion to adjourn was made at 12:16 pm by Commissioner Richmond and seconded by Commissioner Trost.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dave Booher, City Clerk
